Activities and Attractions

Local farms produce a combination of sheep and goat cheeses as well as the famous Mudgee honey which can be sampled at Honey Haven where visitors can also witness bees at work in their hives. The Heart of Mudgee sells local food products, with a tasting table of the best foods in town running down the middle of the store.

Wineries and clusters of vineyards are located north of the river. Pieter Ven Gent features old choir stalls where visitors can indulge in some wine-tasting. An annual wine festival is held in September which features the region's newly released wines.

Getting to Mudgee

For drivers from Sydney, take the Great Western Highway through the Blue Mountains or the Bells Line of Road through Windsor and turn off for Mudgee just past Lithgow. From Newcastle, take New England Highway to Singleton and turn off for Jerry's Plains, through Denman, Sandy Hollow, Merriwa. Turn off for Mudgee just past the Cassilis intersection.
